Access

  • PLANTA link role → Jira InterfacesUser Synchronization

Information

  • In this module you can
    • create (synchronize) users from PLANTA project in Jira if they are not yet available in Jira or
    • link PLANTA project users to those in Jira.

Notes

  • The users are synchronized/linked via their e-mail addresses.
  • User synchronization is one of the steps required for the installation of the Jira Interface. Before synchronization itself can be run, the server settings set out in the installation guide must be made.
    • Configure the following server parameters for the PLANTA project system which is to communicate with the Jira system in the web.conf:
      • generic_service - must be activated (true)
      • generic_service_interface - must be configured if necessary
      • generic_service_port - must be configured
      • ssl_generic_enable - must be activated (true) if you want to run Jira on HTTPS.
      • apikey_auth_filter_generic - must be deactivated (false) because Jira does not authenticate itself to the web interfaces.
        • After you have configured the parameter you have to restart the server.

Procedure

  • In the Unsynchronized users area, all users from PLANTA project are displayed.
  • If you want to create these users in Jira, click on the Synchronize button.
    • Only those users who have an e-mail address in PLANTA project are synchronized with Jira.
  • If the same users already exist in both systems, click on the Link users button.
    • Only users which have the same e-mail address are linked.
    • In Jira, only users which are in the jira-software-users group are searched.
  • As soon as the synchronization/linking is completed, all synchronized/linked users in the Synchronized users area and the unsynchronized/unlinked users remain in the Unsynchronized users area.

Details

  • If the names or e-mail addresses of synchronized users in PLANTA project change, you have to click on the Refresh button in the Synchronized users area. The respective user data in Jira is updated.
  • If user synchronization fails, the Pending Configurations module is displayed at the bottom margin, in which the log file can be opened by opening the context menu on the respective configuration and the cause of failure can be checked.

Note

  • If the maximum number of licensed users is reached, they will indeed be logged, however, they will not be added to jira-software-users and can thus not log on.
