Information
- Cost type groups are used to group cost types.
- In PLANTA project, budget, cost and effort planning, and evaluation are carried out in many user modules (e.g. in the Budget module) based on the cost type groups.
Details
- You can create as many cost type groups as required.
- Cost type groups can be created for costs and effort (arbitrary as well). Costs and effort are displayed in user modules, grouped by these two cost type group categories.
- The cost type groups are displayed in table form: 1 Cost type group = 1 line.
- Cost type groups can be activated and deactivated.
Create Cost Type Groups
Procedure
- If the module is empty (e.g. if PLANTA project has been installed without demo data),
- click on the Insert button in the menu bar in order to insert the grouping record.
- In PLANTA standard, cost type groups are grouped by two classes: Costs and Effort.
- Select the required cost type group class from the listbox on the Cost type group class name field.
- Right-click on the grouping record and select Insert → Cost type group from the context menu.
- Fill data fields (Cost type group name, Cost type group, Description, etc.).
- Save.
- click on the Insert button in the menu bar in order to insert the grouping record.
- If cost type groups are already available in the module,
- right-click on the grouping record or on an existing cost type group and select Insert → Cost type group from the context menu.
- Fill the fields as described above:
- Save.
Details
- If new cost type groups have been created or existing ones have been changed, you have to click on the Cost type group adjustment button. As a result,
- the cost type group attributes of all active cost type groups assigned to the projects and portfolios (more specifically the portfolio periods) are updated.
- active cost type groups which have not been assigned to the projects or portfolios yet, are assigned.
- Assignments to projects always contain the following levels:
- Project: Cost type group = 1: N (previous project level)
- Project/year: Cost type group = 1: N (previous yearly tranche level)
- Assignments to the portfolios (more specifically the portfolio "periods") always contain the following level:
- Portfolio/year: Cost type group = 1: N (portfolio periods)
- Assignments to projects always contain the following levels:
- the assignments of deactivated cost type groups will be deleted.

Activate/Deactivate Cost Type Groups
Procedure
- A cost type group is activated by activating the checkbox of the Active parameter in the Cost Type Groups module.
- Active cost type groups
- can be assigned to any cost type.
- are assigned to projects.
- Active cost type groups
- A cost type group is deactivated by deactivating the checkbox of the Active parameter in the Cost Type Groups module.
- Deactivating a cost type group is only possible if it is not assigned to any cost type.
- Deactivated cost type groups
- cannot be assigned to any cost type.
- are not displayed in the user modules (e.g. in the Budget module).
- are not considered in the summarization of budget, cost and effort.
- are marked optically in the master data maintenance (traffic light, gray symbol).
- When deactivating a cost type group, the user is informed by a dialog message, that
- this cost type group is not displayed any longer and
- the entered budgets are not considered.
Note
- If a cost type group is to be deactivated, all assignments to cost types have to be removed first.
Delete Cost Type Groups
Note
- The deletion of cost type groups is currently not possible.
