  • Enter the Project name for the new project in the field in the module header next to the ID. Here, the Please enter name dialog will be displayed by default.
  • Define the core data of the project, like e.g. requested start, requested end dates, etc. by making selections from the listboxes and define further data in the description fields.
  • Define the project manager by making a selection from the Project manager listbox.
  • Save.

Note

  • The same procedure also applies if you create a project by clicking on the New project button in several modules, e.g. from the Projects module, etc.

Details

  • For a detailed description of data recording in the Project Core Data module, like, e.g., the recording of other important parameters or the definition of stakeholders, please refer to the module description. For an overview of all project parameters and their descriptions, please click here.
  • The project manager can create further project data and create a schedule, etc.
  • Every newly created project is locked against work reporting by default and must be unlocked upon project start by deactivating the Locked checkbox.
  • If you wish to plan and control the newly created project in line with a particular process model, you have to activate the required process model in the creation of the project. For the procedure, click here.

Create Projects by Converting Ideas or Proposals

Information

  • If an idea which is to become a project already exists, project management administrators/PMOs can set the Type parameter of an idea or proposal to project in the Edit Planning Objects module. The idea or proposal will then be turned into a project. Previously recorded data will be retained and remain modifiable.
  • Another option for conversion is to work with process models. In particular process models, the planning object type can be changed by phase transitions. For further information on this topic, please click here.
