Assign Quality Gates to Planning Objects

Quality gates are so called controlling elements which serve as a bridge between portfolio management and project management. From a functional point of view, they are similar to gates or master milestones of planning objects. They are date-bound section checks which serve to render the phases of project execution more transparent.
Where can I assign planning objects to quality gates?
Automatic assignment: In the Portfolio Core Data module of the required portfolio.
Open the portfolio by clicking on the Multi-Portfolio Board entry in the user menu of the Portfolio manager role and clicking on the link on the ID of the portfolio in the Portfolios module which is now opened. Subsequently switch to the Portfolio Core Data module tab in the opened portfolio.
Manual assignment: In the Quality Gates module of the required portfolio.
Open the portfolio by clicking on the Multi-Portfolio Board entry in the user menu of the Portfolio manager role and clicking on the link on the ID of the portfolio in the Portfolios module which is now opened. Subsequently, please switch to the Quality Gates module tab in the active portfolio.
Who is allowed to assign quality gates to planning objects?
All users who have access to the required module and modification rights for portfolios. In PLANTA standard, these are the managers of the corresponding portfolios and the multi-portfolio managers. For further information on user rights, please click here.
Store quality gate templates in the portfolio
For information
Quality gates cannot be included in the planning objects arbitrarily but only via quality gate templates.
In the quality gate templates, all required quality gates are defined with the respective todo items and dates.
Procedure
If there is no suitable quality gate template yet, please create a new template first. For information on how to create and manage quality gate templates, please click here.
Go to the Portfolio Core Data module of the required portfolio.
Select a Quality Gate template in the Active template field.
Save.
Automatic Assignment of Quality Gates

If automatic assignment of quality gates has been activated, the quality gates of the stored template will automatically be copied into a planning object as soon as someone assigns the planning object to the portfolio.
Procedure
Go to the Portfolio Core Data module of the required portfolio. If no quality gate template has been stored as Active template yet, select a quality gate template there now (for the procedure, see above).
Activate the checkbox of the Copy QG template automatically parameter.
Save.
Note
If planning objects had already been assigned to the portfolio before a quality gate template was selected or if the selected template has been changed afterwards, the new template must be inserted manually in the required planning objects. For this purpose, see the procedure below.
Manual Assignment of Quality Gates
Procedure
If no quality gate template has been stored for the portfolio yet, assign a template to the portfolio first (for the procedure, see above).
Subsequently, open the Quality Gates module of the required portfolio.
Click on the Copy quality gate template button in the line of the required planning object.
As a result, the quality gates which have been defined in the active quality gate template will be copied into the planning object. The dates of the quality gates and their todo items will be calculated automatically based on the start date and the Time interval stored in the template.
Adjust the dates (requested dates) of the quality gates and todo items for this planning object if required.
Save.
Details
To see the quality gates in the planning object, click on the Open schedule button. The Schedule of the planning object will be opened. The quality gates copied in are displayed below the scale next to the possibly existing planning object gates.
