Cycle Search MOD000112
Access
PM Administration → PMO: Check Modules → Data Maintenance → Cycle Search
For information
In the Cycle Search module, all projects with network cycles will be displayed.
A network cycle occurs when no last task can be found within a network cycle in the calculation of a schedule.
If scheduling detects a cycle, a message is displayed urging you to rectify the affected links. For the affected project, the Network cycle checkbox is activated, as is the Task with cycle checkbox for all affected tasks in the project. The tasks are highlighted in color (marked in red) and the schedule calculation for this project is canceled.
If several projects are scheduled, e.g. in the course of a Replanning or in the case of structured projects, scheduling is canceled (with a message) only for the project in which a network cycle was found. After you have confirmed the message, the remaining projects will be calculated.
Details
Network cycles must be fixed by correcting the links in the Schedule module.
Notes
Possible constellations which give rise to a network cycle:
e.g. links from TA1 to TA2, from TA2 to TA3, from TA3 to TA1
Links between summary and child tasks are not considered during scheduling, so that no network cycle occurs.
