Information

  • In this module, the following information will be displayed:
    • the utilization diagram of the department for which the logged-on users acts as a department manager.
    • a resource list with all resources to which the logged-on user has access.
    • a list with the skills which are planned in projects as skill resources (skill resource planning) and to which the logged-on user has access

Note

  • To find out how resource and skill access are controlled and how a user is defined as a department manager, please click here.

Details

  • By clicking on the link on the name of a resource, the department manager can go to the Employee Board where he/she can, e.g., consult the activities of the resource or review his/her time recording in the respective modules.
    • The department manager can only edit activities of the resource if he or she has modification rights for the respective project.
    • In the Time Recording module, the calendar scroll function checks the duration of the periods of the logged-on resource, not those of the selected resource. I.e., in this case it checks the duration of the periods of the department manager. If the resource of the department manager has no periods of its own, or fewer periods than the opened resource, or if the department manager is not a resource at all, the following message is displayed: Your calendar has not been maintained for the selected period (yet). You cannot proceed. message will be displayed and you either cannot scroll to further weeks at all or not far enough.
  • The utilization diagrams shows the cumulated utilization of department resources by project code. In the utilization diagram, the resource utilization is compared to the resource availability.
  • The number range below the diagram shows:
    • All number specifications are summarized specifications (selected resource + all of its child resources), just like the diagram itself.
    • There is a traffic light implemented on the field with the percentage utilization which switches to red as soon as the overload has been detected (utilization over 100%). See also the legend.
  • If Resource Planning with Requests/Approvals are activated, the department manager can configure in the Approval can be overrun by (limit in %): field in the Resource requests area by what percentage approval can be overrun by the project manager.

To be considered

  • PLANTA recommends to carry out a replanning of all projects before viewing the utilization diagram, especially if changes have been made to the resource structure.

Planned load (remaining load) of the resource(s) in projects
The color of the bar is determined by the code of the projects.
Code A
Code B
Code C
Code D
Code E
The code is defined in the Project Core Data of the respective project.
The values for the histogram bars are each calculated from the Summarized planned code 1 to Summarized planned code 5 columns.
Actual load of the resource(s)
The values for the histogram bar will be determined from the Summarized used column from the period records of the resource(s) (DT468). The values in the period records, however, stem from the working time recording of the resources (DT472).
Available capacity of the resource(s)
The values for the histogram bar will be determined from the Summarized available capacity column from the period records of the resource(s) (DT468). The value in DT468, however, comes from the general Available capacity defined for the resource in the Resource Data Sheet.
The limiting line at the top of the bar will remain visible despite of overlapping by load data.
Basic load of the resource(s)
The values for the histogram bar will be determined from the Basic load (factor value 3) column from the period records of the resource(s) (DT468). The value in DT468, however, comes from the general Available capacity defined for the resource in the Resource Data Sheet.
The limiting line at the top of the bar will remain visible despite of overlapping by load data.

Overload of the resource
The overload percentage value displayed in the red bar or the absolute overload displayed as a red number will be determined from the availability of the resource (Summarized available capacity) and its planned loads (Summarized planned).
