The functions in the project and portfolio management area
Project Management
The focus is on planning, controlling, and monitoring individual projects. PLANTA Project supports you in all planning and control areas:
-
Schedule Planning – define Tasks and milestones, model dependencies, and calculate the project schedule.
-
Resource Planning – assign employees and teams to tasks, check utilization, and identify bottlenecks early.
-
Cost Planning – set up budgets, compare planned costs and actual costs, and track cost development.
-
Progress Control – record degrees of completion, carry out planned-actual comparisons, and take corrective action in case of deviations.
Multi-project and program management
When several projects run in parallel, a cross-project view is required. With PLANTA Project, you can bundle projects into programs, make cross-project dependencies visible, and resolve resource conflicts across all projects.
Portfolio Management
In portfolio management you evaluate and prioritize project proposals by strategic criteria. This way, you ensure that the right projects are implemented and that the available resources are deployed optimally.
Portfolio management is included in PLANTA Enterprise and extends the functional scope of PLANTA project with strategic portfolio functions.
Time Recording
Employees record their actual efforts directly in the system. The booked times automatically flow back into the project planning, so that planned and actual values are comparable at any time.
Hybrid Project Management
PLANTA combines traditional and agile ways of working. Using the agile component (PLANTA pulse) or integration with external systems such as Jira, agile teams and traditionally planned projects can be managed in a shared environment.
Administration
System-wide settings, basic data, and the control of roles and user rights are managed centrally in Administration. Here you define who may use which functions and how the system is configured.
The subordinate pages explain the basic concepts of the PLANTA software in more detail:
