Simulations MOD009CU8

Access

Information

  • In this module you can
    • create new simulations
    • open already existing simulations in order to view or further edit them
    • compare simulations
    • cancel the road map release and thus reconvert road maps to simulations.

Create New Simulation

Select Status Report per Planning Object

Information

  • In order to select a new simulation, a released status report must be selected for each planning object of the portfolio, since portfolio simulations are based on the data of the released status reports of the planning objects.
  • If particular planning objects do not possess any released status reports or status reports in general, as is the case for ideas, status reports which are exclusively designed for portfolio simulation will be created automatically when simulation creation is initiated.
    • If there are hybrid projects with already synchronized tasks among the portfolio projects for which an automatic status report is created, it is initially checked whether PLANTA pulse is accessible. If this is not the case, the required status reports and the simulation will not be created. The user is informed about this by a message.

Procedure

  • Option 1
    • By clicking on the Assign current status reports button, the last released status reports are automatically selected for all planning objects (if there are any) and are displayed in the Status report field.
      • If there is no released status report for at least one planning object, the For the following planning objects no appropriate status report has been found: message with a list of the planning objects in question.
  • Option 2
    • By clicking on the Select status report button in the respective planning object line, the Assign Status Report module is opened, in which a status report can be selected and assigned manually. Only released status reports are offered for selection.
      • If an older status report is assigned to the planning object instead of the most recently released status report, a red traffic light which signalizes that you have not selected the most recent report is immediately displayed in the planning object line.
  • For each planning object, a color can be selected in the Color in simulation field, in which the respective planning object is displayed in the simulation. The color of the project code is set when the status report is selected and is thus used.

Create Simulation

Procedure

  • Click on the Create simulation button.
    • As a result, the status report data is copied to an extra simulation table and summarized to department and months.
      • If no released status reports exist for one ore several planning objects,
        • they are automatically created and used as underlying data for the simulation.
          • The status reports automatically created for simulation are marked as simulation reports separately in the background and are only used for simulation. They are not visible in the regular status report modules.
        • already existing status reports are updated, provided that no status reports have been created and released manually.
  • The Simulation module is opened, in which planning dates of the planning objects can be simulated.

Open Existing Simulations

Procedure

  • If a portfolio already has recorded simulations or road maps, they will be displayed in the Road maps and Simulations areas.
  • From here, individual simulations or road maps can be opened in the required line by clicking on the link on the ID.

Compare Simulations

Procedure

  • Click on the Compare simulations button.
  • The Compare Simulations module will be opened.
    • In the Simulation/road map listbox in the Data source area.
    • Select a second simulation or road map from the Compare with: listbox.
    • In the Period area, select the period for comparison.
    • Click on Refresh button.

    Details

    • Both simulations/road maps are compared per month/department and the results are displayed graphically.
    • The upper data source forms the basis for comparison, also, e.g., for the selection of the departments to be compared.
    • In the diagrams, the utilizations of the departments are displayed in the form of bars and the available capacities of the departments are displayed in the form of a graph.

Cancel Road Map Release

Information

  • A road map is the released and therefore frozen version of a simulation. You can release a simulation as a road map in the Simulation module. In order to be able to change a road map retroactively, the release must be canceled first in order to reconvert the road map into a simulation.

Procedure

  • Right-click on the required process step in the Road maps area and select Cancel road map release from the context menu.
  • Confirm the Do you want to cancel this road map release? If it is canceled, the road map will be converted into a simulation. message.
    • The road map thus becomes a simulation and will be displayed in the Simulations area.
