Access
- Idea panel → Idea Core Data
Information
- In this module, the core data and parameters of an idea are created and maintained.
Notes
- Whether the current user is authorized to change, or to only view data in this module, depends on his/her rights.
- The Idea Core Data module is opened by default when an idea is created.
Idea Header Data
Create New Idea
Procedure
- The process of creating a new idea can be launched from various modules by using the New Idea button or the New idea link in the user menu.
- As a result, the blank Idea Core Data module will be opened and the ID will be generated automatically in the idea header.
- Enter the idea name in the field next to the ID (here, the Please enter a name) dialog will be displayed by default.
- Save.
Details
- Now, the idea base is created. You are advised to also define the most important Key dates and Basis data in the course of this. Any further data can be added at a later point in time.
Notes
- All users who have access to the module are authorized to create new ideas. No further authorization is needed.
- Exception: if the Idea Core Data is opened from the overview modules (e.g. the Planning Objects Grouped module) via the New planning object button. In this case, the user must possess multi-project manager or multi-portfolio manager rights.
Delete Idea
Procedure
- Click on the button containing an on the right hand side of the header bar area.
- The Delete module, in which the idea can be deleted, will be opened.
Note
- Authorization for the deletion of Ideas
are available to users with multi-project manager or multi-portfolio manager rights.
- Users who are idea managers or proposal managers can delete their own ideas and proposals.
- If the user does not possess any of the above mentioned rights, no delete button will be displayed in the Proposal Core Data or Idea Core Data module and the Delete module can thus not be opened.
Mark Idea as a "Favorite"
Information
- Projects which are marked as favorites are displayed in the User menu of the logged-on user all the way at the top of the Favorites area. This allows you to access ideas more quickly from the user menu without navigation.
Procedure
- Click on the blue star symbol directly next to the header bar. The star turns yellow and the idea has thus been turned into a favorite.
Basic Data
Information
- The area of the same name contains idea core data like, e.g., Customer, Group 1, etc.
- The descriptions of the individual parameters can be retrieved directly from the program by pressing F1, or they can also be found here.
Key Dates
Information
- In the Key dates area, the time frame of the idea is defined.
- When creating an idea, Requested start and Requested end can be defined.
- After the schedule has been created, other fields in this area will be calculated automatically during scheduling.
Descriptive Data
Information
- In the Descriptive data area, further information on the project can be entered in so-called continuous text fields, which allow longer text entries, e.g. description, scope and limit, etc.
Watchlist
Information
- In the This project is on the watchlist of area, persons are listed who have assigned the current project for monitoring reasons to their own watchlist via the My Watchlist module.
- The area will only be displayed if it contains data.
Convert Idea into Proposal or Project
Information
- If there already is an idea which is to become a proposal or project, project management administrators/PMOs can set the Type parameter in the Edit Planning Objects module of the idea to proposal or project. The idea will thus be converted into a proposal or project. Previously recorded data will be retained and remain modifiable.
- Another option for conversion is to work with process models. In particular process models, the planning object type can be changed by phase transitions. For further information on this topic, please click here
