Quality Gate Templates MOD009CTZ

Access

Information

  • In this module, quality gate templates are
    • created
    • edited
    • deleted
  • A template can contain one or several quality gates..
  • You can define one or several todo items as objectives to be achieved for each quality gate.
  • Quality gates are so-called controlling elements which serve as a bridge between portfolio management and project management. Functionally similar to gates or master milestones of planning objects, quality gates enable you to organize the project implementation phase in a more transparent manner by using scheduled "project stage checks".
  • From a technical point of view, quality gates are tasks and are marked as quality gates in the database by the value "3” for the Milestone parameter.

Notes

  • A quality gate template is assigned to a portfolio in the Portfolio Core Data module. If a template is assigned to the portfolio, the contained quality gates are automatically copied to each planning object which is included in the portfolio.
  • If changes are made to the quality gates in the template, they automatically influence the quality gates which have already been assigned to the planning objects of the portfolio. In order to update them, the quality gates in the quality gates module must be deleted from the planning objects manually and subsequently be reassigned.

Create template

Procedure

  • Click on the Create template button in the module header.
    • As a result, the ID of the template is generated automatically.
    • Allocate a name.

  • Via the Change functional template ID button you can change the template ID system-wide, even retroactively.

Create Quality Gates

Procedure

  • Right-click on the template record and select the InsertQuality Gate context menu command. A quality gate record is created.
    • Enter a quality gate name in the Name field.
    • The order of the quality gate in the template is defined by the value in the Quality gate field.
    • Select the date of the project in the Start field and define the time interval in the Time interval field in order to calculate the time interval for the quality gate.
      • When copying the quality gates to the project (in the Quality Gates module), the date calculated this way will automatically be entered in the Date field of the respective quality gate and in the Date field of all assigned todo items. The automatically calculated and inserted dates can subsequently be changed manually by the portfolio manager if required.
      • As a result, the scheduling of the quality gates is dynamical, depending on the dates of the respective project.

Create Todo Items

Information

  • For each quality gate you can define one or several steps (todo items) the completion of which is necessary to achieve the quality gate.

Procedure

  • Right-click on the required task and select the InsertTask context menu command. As a result, a todo item record is created.
    • Define the position within the quality gate by entering a numerical value in the Todo item field.
    • Allocate a todo item name.
    • The Priority field is a mandatory field and defines the importance of the todo item for the achievement of the quality gate.
    • A todo item can be assigned to a category.

The dates of the todo items are automatically set to the date of the respective quality gate when copying the quality gates to the project in the Quality Gates module.
