DB 27

General Notes on Update to Release DB 27

Release DB 27 is primarily designed for use with the Web Client. For this purpose, new counterparts of the existing modules have been developed in the new design in this release – with optimized functionality and usability, e.g. a newly structured navigation, an integrated agile component, or an improved authorization control.

  • The switch to the new design is controlled by the Skin user parameter. For each user, the PLANTA Standard Skin (New) value must be selected here. After the update, the new design can be rolled out globally for all users by running the ActivateNewDesign helper package.

  • If you have made individual adjustments in the old standard modules which you would like to have integrated into the new standard modules, please contact your PLANTA consultant.

  • If you already use a hybrid system consisting of PLANTA Project and PLANTA Pulse, you can continue to use this proven combination in release 27 as usual. If you are new to the hybrid approach, we recommend our new agile component which is integrated in PLANTA Project directly.

    • ⚠ Attention: In order to be able to use the integrated agile component, the link between PLANTA Project and PLANTA Pulse must not be active.

  • The old modules still exist and can be used. However, this is explicitly not recommended. If you choose this option, please use the software instructions in version 26. For context-sensitive help (F1/F2), you are automatically redirected to version 26.

Special System Requirements for Release DB 27

Please note: For the installation / operation of database version 27 or for any update to this version, an OCI-compatible container runtime or platform, e.g. Docker, is required, as PLANTA provides all of its software components (exception: Desktop Client) as container images. For further information, see Installation of PLANTA Project.

Notes on Update to DB 27 from Earlier Releases

Information

  • A direct update to version DB 27 is possible from source version DB 16 (formerly 39.5.16) or higher. If you use an earlier version, you first have to update to version DB 16 and subsequently to version DB 27.

  • In DB 18 (formerly 39.5.18), the outdated SAP library "pysapnwrfc" has been replaced by the "pyrfc" library. When updating from versions < DB 18, the affected SAP interfaces must be adjusted. For further information on the integration of PLANTA Project and SAP, see here.

  • Since release DB 17 (formerly 39.5.17), PLANTA offers a new Online Help. If you update from a release < DB 17 and want to continue using context-sensitive help directly from within your system (F1/F2), or if your firewall only permits limited Internet access, you have to make sure that the PLANTA application server has at least access to the IP address: 3.65.222.100.

If you have any questions, please contact your PLANTA consultant.
