Resource Plan (Project) MOD009CGA

Access

Information

  • This module provides a quick overview of the resources planned in the project.
  • In this module you can
    • assign resources to the tasks and delete these resource assignments.
    • edit resource parameters as well as individual task parameters.
    • distribute the planning of resources.

Notes

  • The resource assignments are not displayed below the tasks, as it is usually done in other modules, but next to the respective tasks in window 2.
  • Only resources that do not have an Actual end date yet are displayed.
  • Revenue and cost resources (i.e. resources with resource type 8 and 9) are not displayed in the module.
  • The entire overview of all resources can be found in the Schedule module.

Module Variants

BaseResource assignment records only contain the Remaining effort and Comment fields
ExtendedIn the resource assignment records, the Load profile, Cost type, and Max. load/day will be displayed in addition.

Assign resources to tasks

Assign resources to tasks

  • Right-click on the required task (window 1) or on a resource already assigned to this task (window 2) and select Insert → Resource from the context menu.
    • A new resource record is inserted.
    • If Resource Planning with Requests/Approvals is activated and if approval is required for the resource, a respective message is displayed.
  • Select the required resource from the resource listbox.
  • Define the required resource parameters.
    • When the resource was assigned to the task, several parameters have already been filled with default settings from the Resource Data Sheet (e.g. Load profile, Cost type). They can then be changed manually here.
    • Caution: If you change the default values for one of the resources assigned to the task and then copy this resource assignment to one of the further tasks, previously changed settings will be included instead of the default settings of the resource.

Distribute Planning

Procedure

  • Right-click on the resource the effort of which is to be reduced and select the Add resource for distribution command or Insert → Resource for distribution.
    • The record for the new resource is inserted.
  • Select the resource to which the effort is to be distributed from the listbox.
  • Enter the required value in hours in the value to be distributed field and save.
  • Click on the Distribute effort button at the bottom left margin of the module.
  • Result: the effort of the source resource is reduced and that of the target resource is increased.

Notes

  • When effort is distributed, possibly existing Requested start and Requested end of the source resource are transferred to the new resource.
    • If the effort is allocated to an already existing task resource which already has a Requested start and a Requested end, Requested start and Requested end of the target resource will be overwritten by Requested start and Requested end of the source resource.
    • This behavior cannot be activated or deactivated. Workaround: Add dates manually on the target resource or apply the required dates directly when distributing the effort of the target resource. The respective requested date fields are hidden on the distribution record by default and must be unhidden by the user if required.
  • When distributing the effort from a source resource to a new resource, the load profile which is displayed on the source resource assigned to a task in the Resource Plan module ( Caution: not the default load profile of the source resource) is transmitted to the new resource.
      • If no load profile is stored on the source resource assigned to a task, the own default load profile of the resource is used for the new resource.
