Roles MOD003649
Access
- PM Administration → Master Data → Users, Roles, Resources → Roles
- Customizer → System Customizer → Users, Roles, Resources → Roles
Information
- In the Roles module, all available PLANTA standard roles are displayed and can be edited.
- You can create new roles here.
In PLANTA project, roles are grouping units which are used for Rights Management. A role gives the users to whom it is assigned access to one or more groups of modules and menu items. Such groups are called work areas.
A work area consists of at least one module or menu item, however, usually they are composed of several modules/ module panels and/or menu items. There are pure module work areas and pure menu item work areas.
Create and Assemble Roles
Procedure
- Open the Roles module.
- As PLANTA supplies standard roles with the program, they are available when calling up the module.
- Right-click on an already existing role and select the Insert → Role command.
- Assign a name to the new role in the Role field and save.
- In doing so, an ID will be generated automatically in the Role ID field.
- If the new role is a menu item role, you have to activate the Invisible in the user menu checkbox of this role.
- Assign work areas to the new role:
- Right-click and select Insert → Work Area, then select the required work area from the listbox.
- Save.
- Standard work areas are available for selection. If an individual work area is to be assigned, it must first be created and defined in the Work Areas module.
- If you want a particular role/menu item to be usable via web client only, please activate the web client checkbox.
Details
- You can assign further subroles to the newly created role:

- The subrole assignment defines the hierarchy of the display in the user menu.
